My Substack is called One Could Argue and it is where I practice writing and editing by jotting down my thoughts about whatever books I'm reading and movies I'm watching. I recently finished The Aeneid of Virgil and my fourth collection of Tove Jansson's classic newspaper comic strip Moomin. Both well worth a look!
The translation I read was from the middle of the last century by some scholar named Rolfe Humphries. It was good and very digestible for this first-time Aenean. I read it because it is the version I stumbled upon in a Little Free Library.
However I have heard Shadi Bartsch's 2021 translation spoken of very highly and I am likely to give that a thorough reading at some point!
Middlemarch is a joy, I'm currently reading the great Persian epic, The Shahnameh.
Great stuff, Martin!
I've been wanting to read some Le Guin for a long time, and finally started recently with The Left Hand of Darkness. Thanx for your list!
My pleasure, Shiva! You are in for a treat.

Thanks for sharing, D. W.! Do you have a preferred translation of The Aeneid?
